During a press conference in the State Dining Room of the White House on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, post-midterm elections, President Biden hinted that he would be making an official announcement on whether or not he would run again for the White House in early 2023. Still, he maintained that while there was no official announcement yet, he was intending to run again.
Biden reportedly said during the press conference that he was hoping to spend the holidays with his wife, first lady Jill Biden, before making an official announcement early next year.
The President has also repeatedly said that he did not feel any pressure to announce his reelection campaign faster, even though reports want former President Trump to be announcing his own bid for the White House in the coming week. This was after on Monday; Trump had said that a “very big announcement” would be made next week.
Biden has said that ultimately the decision on whether or not to run is a family decision and that when and if he announces he is going to run again it will be after he has had long discussions about it with his family.
On Tuesday night, the Democrats had a very good night in their election results which is why Biden made an early sort of victory lap. Still, Republicans might be able to win both the majority in the House and Senate. The GOP margin for winning the House appears to be growing slimmer, while the Democrats might be able to retain their majority in the Senate.
