(TruthAndLiberty.com) – The Israeli watchdog group found that the Biden administration had provided funding in support of an organization that had provided aid to Palestinian terrorists.
According to the finding, the Phoenix Center for Research and Field Studies which had been first established in March 2021 had received over $90,000 from taxpayer-backed grants in support of two projects that are going to be running until next August. USAspending.gov further notes that the grants were given by the State Department.
The Phoenix Center, which was established under the GAZA University auspices, has claimed to be an independent and non-profit institution that helps Palestinian communities cover all their needs, including economic, social, and political needs.
Still, the Israeli watchdog NGO monitor stated that the Phoenix Center had previously collaborated with two different terror groups, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leaders.
House Foreign Affairs Committee member and Subcommittee on Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations chairman Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., told the Washington Examiner that the recent revelations were alarming. He added there is no circumstance in which the State Department should be using U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund terrorist groups and organizations who are trying to destroy Israel and kill the Jews.
Another member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., similarly stated that there should be oversight over this situation and accountability and that someone should “lose their job” over the decision to fund terror groups.
