AOC Desperately Backpedals After Scandalous Video Goes Viral
(TruthandLiberty.com) – On Tuesday, July 19, Capitol police arrested 17 House Democrats at the US Supreme Court for protesting the SCOTUS ruling overturning Roe v. Wade in the streets. Officials said they cited the Democratic lawmakers for crowding, obstructing, or incommoding after they snarled traffic on roadways. Authorities noted they didn’t handcuff anyone during the noncustodial arrests. Still, some observers mocked Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for her drama and for appearing to act as though police cuffed her.
AOC released a video on Tuesday evening saying she wasn’t pretending the police restrained her. On Wednesday, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) mocked AOC for her theatrics, and perhaps AOC should have let it go, but she didn’t. The firebrand lawmaker said the best policy is to place your hands behind your back when detained by law enforcement to avoid any escalation or allegations of resisting arrest.

AOC added a very personal response to Mace. She accused her peer of lying about a fellow rape survivor for political points. Mace shot back with a video showing the Queens and Bronx lawmaker fist pumping the crowd and ridiculing her for trying to look tough. Memes and jokes about the Democratic Socialist’s imaginary shackling went viral across social media.
The arrested legislators each face a $50 fine for blocking traffic illegally. The individuals must pay within 15 days or ask for a hearing.
