(TruthandLiberty.com) – In 2019, Col. Alexander Vindman became a household figure for his role in helping Democrats impeach former President Donald Trump. Vindman testified against the former president, suggesting he gave up secrets to Ukraine. Now, Vindman might have some explaining of his own to do.
From September 2020 to August 2021, the retired Army colonel served as a Foreign Policy Institute Senior Fellow at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Recently, the media learned that SAIS received funding from the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF). The federal government says CUSEF is part of China’s United Front, a Chinese Communist Party covert operation created to eliminate opposition to its policies and influence foreign governments to support Beijing through specific actions or adopting Chinese policy positions.

In addition to providing funds to SAIS, the CUSEF also pays to send students to China to indoctrinate them and send them home. In recent years, the Chinese Communist Party paid substantial amounts of cash to infiltrate and influence US institutions. Leaders in research and innovation industries or studies are often targets of the CUSEF. In 2015, the FBI started to warn schools about the risks of becoming involved with the Chinese organization.
Many people say if schools won’t protect themselves, their research, and their students from Chinese propaganda, Congress may need to respond. But would that be enough?
