(TruthandLiberty.com) – When an icon in the sports world passes away, it can become a national celebration of a superstar’s life. In America, one might not think of cricket as a major sport. Don’t tell that to an Australian. On Friday, March 4, one of his four friends vacationing with 52-year-old Australian cricket legend Shane Warne found him dead at the resort of Koh Samui.
Police say one of Warne’s friends tried to wake him from a nap for dinner, but the cricket star was unresponsive. The authorities said the friend spent 20 minutes trying to save his life by performing CPR while waiting for an ambulance. Emergency responders took Warne to Thai International Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Australian celebrity died of what appears to have been a massive heart attack.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said he offered the family the option of a state funeral to honor the iconic cricketer. Andrews added Victoria and Australia lost a legend, and the cricketing world was mourning Warne’s loss.
The family requested privacy right now and said they would provide details later.
In 1993, Warne became a global star when he defeated Mike Gatting in the so-called Ball of the Century. Warne won 708 test wickets and tormented Australia’s rival in the United Kingdom.
