(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is urging all 2024 White House candidates to vow to pardon former President Donald Trump if he is found guilty in connection to the federal case against him over his alleged mishandling of classified documents.
Ramaswamy, a millionaire biotech entrepreneur is considered a long-shot GOP presidential hopeful. Following Trump’s federal indictment last week, he was the first GOP candidate to publicly state that if elected in office he would pardon Trump if he is found guilty.
On Tuesday in a campaign letter sent to all White House candidates from both parties, Ramaswamy pushed for them to pardon Trump if they win the presidential election. In the letter he wrote that while it might be easier for them to win an election if former President Donald Trump was eliminated from the race, it would be “the wrong result” for the country. He added that because they were running against Trump they had the “credibility to denounce this politicized prosecution.”
He noted that he condemned the charges brought forth by the U.S. Justice Department and that should he win the presidential race he has “signed a commitment to pardon President Trump” on the first day of his administration. He further urged all other candidates to join him in making this promise.
The letter was made available to the public while Ramaswamy was speaking in Miami against Trump’s indictment. Trump has pleaded not guilty to 37 charges relating to his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House in 2021.
